The Power of Staying Curious in Uncertain Times

“In a world full of people who seem to know everything, passionately, based on little (often slanted) information, where certainty is often mistaken for power, what a relief it is to be in the company of someone confident enough to stay unsure (that is, perpetually curious).” – George Saunders

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how certainty has become a kind of currency—mistaken for authority, weaponized in debate, and often leading us further from truth rather than toward it. Yet, as doctors, therapists, and healers, our role is not to be all-knowing, but to be endlessly curious.

At The Center for Vitalogy, we don’t claim to have “the answer” because true healing isn’t a formula—it’s a journey. The body, the mind, and the deeper layers of self are vast, dynamic, and deeply personal. Real transformation comes not from rigid doctrine but from an openness to exploring new ways of being, doing, seeing, and believing.

What if instead of clinging to certainty, we leaned into the discomfort of not knowing? What if we approached our health, our relationships, and our world with the humility to ask better questions rather than insist on easy answers?

This is the shift we need—not just in medicine but in the way we live. A willingness to hold space for complexity, to be both learners and guides, and to stay curious, even—especially—in times of uncertainty.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. How do you navigate the tension between certainty and curiosity in your own life?
